My name is NANCY , I am forty-one years old, I was born on 1979. I am from Philippines and I am currently working as a Nurse II in the Philippines. For me; it was one of the most important decisions in my life. My family is big, my mother was a plain housewife and my father was a carpenter and fisherman. My parents have 10 Children: me, the youngest child in the family, my seven older sisters Victoria (62), Babylonia (59), Leonora (55), Luisa (54), Liza (51), Vilma (50), Evelyn, (47), Joyce (48) years old and older brother Noel is (43).

I have 23 nieces and nephews, they came from different ages, some are older than I am and the others are still kids. I grew up to had a very close knit-family, though distance separate us because some stayed in other provinces and countries, we make sure that we talked each other thru FaceTime and Messenger, whenever we have the custom of celebrating birthdays family, I cook their favorite dishes of the birthday, we also had get together, we play games, tell stories, etc. We support and respect each other decisions in life, that’s what we learned from our parents.

My mother had two brothers and my father has several brothers and sisters, so I have many uncles, aunts and little cousins. But unfortunately, some were passed away but I can say I was blessed enough because they were under my care during their old age and sickness days. I have more time of taking care of them.

My father died 11 years ago with a diagnosis of Breast Cancer and Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis, He was hospitalized for 3 months and 6 months in our house with all the contraption like ventilator, feed him through PEG, bathed him and administer medication with doctors order. As far as I remember, I was a nursing student then, but I applied what I learned in school.

My mother died 3 years ago. She died because of cardiac arrest in the hospital an hours after admission. I was also beside her during the night watching over her. I was trying to resucitated her but with how many attempts the doctor came and declared her dead. She had hypertension, and as a nurse, though I had work in the community, I always remind her medications and took her blood pressure before I left for work.

I really love taking care of sick people and old age with medical problems, in my present work, as a Public Health Nurse in the community. I visited families and individuals with health problems, provide them medical attention and give medications. Patients in the community also goes to Health Center, to seek medical help like medications, blood pressure, first aid, administer vaccines, monitor blood sugar level and many others.

Prior to that, I had worked also as a private duty nurse to individuals with medical problems, one is a girl with Hodgkin’s Disease. The parents of the sick always call me for her parenteral medications. My other patient was a stroke patient and stayed in hospital. I monitored her progress, took her blood pressure, bed bath her and medications, clean the ventilator and fed her through NGT. Patients and family became closed to me. As matter of fact, they contacted me through messenger until now.

I also love children. I grew up with nephews and nieces were around me. Aside from my two children, I had with me in our house together with my sister are my nephews, one is with special needs, and one three-year old niece. I think they are the most beautiful beings in the world, they are able to encourage anyone with their innocence and enthusiasm, they always make you smile and make you feel an inner peace. I understand him and talk to him like other normal child.

I enjoy working with children, taking care of them, therefore you can trustworthy, that I can be someone you can count on to be there when their family needs me. I like to be always flexible with schedules, since one never knows what can happen, or unexpected events occur.

I speak English, it is our medium of teaching in our schools, the main language I am using is Tagalog. I also learn how to speak native noalect like Visayan. I wanted to learn and explore new international language but because of hectic schedules. I was not able to pursue my plan to take German and Japanese language.

My favorite colors are pink and yellow, my favorite food is chicken, spaghetti and pizza, I love animals, specially dogs. I like playing volleyball, watching horror films and visiting different places. In my free time I like to go for a walk, eat, or dance with my friends. I like to travel meeting new people, talking and sharing experiences.

I would also love to know the Canadian way of life, my desire to know more about your country and its culture. My family and my friends say that I am a very motherly, responsible and loving person; In addition, I am very loving person, I take care people regardless of their status and needs in life most especially those who are sick and need medical attention. So this year I decided to fulfill my next dream, I want other people from other side of the world experience my skills and knowledge, and taking care of their well-being and what a better way than doing what I love in a different country! I wanted to share my knowledge and learnings of taking care other people. I am responsible enough to my actions taken. My family support my decision and they are very happy for me.

I’m delighted to have the opportunity to improve my English, and French and I know I can achieve this goal there. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
