My name is Ruby, 31 years old and currently residing in the Philippines. I graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the year 2011. I acquired my license a year after and begun to work as a Registered Nurse thereafter. I had almost two years of experience in the Philippines before I decided to work in Singapore as an Assistant Nurse for about 4 years. I had so much to learn in Singapore being away from my family and on a new environment. I was an Assistant Nurse in a Dialysis Unit. Aside from assisting the doctors and staff nurses, I also had to attend to our patients daily needs. These mostly includes taking vital signs and blood sugar level, dressing and checking daily weight. A number of dialysis patients are amputated or has impaired sight due to diabetes thus full assistance is required. I also assist my patients in bath, meals and making sure that medications are taken on time. Total patient care was always what I deliver. I was able to establish good rapport despite a few language barriers. I really had a good time in Singapore until I had to go home to take care of my own family.

I came from a big family. I have 2 brothers and 4 sisters and I am the youngest. All of my siblings have their own family already. My parents are now in their 80’s, they already have maintenance medicines but still quite strong for their age as they can still do some house chores. My mother can still cook the best chicken adobo ancaldereta that I know of. While my father still loves planting vegetables ansome ornamental plants. On special occasions, we always look for a bigger place to celebrate if all the kids and grandkids are coming. It is always my duty to prepare games and activities for the kids.

I am Ingrid May L. Maglajos, female, 23 years old, single, currently residing at Bohol, Philippines. I am the eldest daughter of a family of five. My father is Gil B. Maglajos, a Grade One Elementary Teacher.My mother is Evelyn Lusica-Maglajos, a Grade Four Elementary Teacher too. My siblings are Shane Dianne Mae Maglajos, 19 years old and is now studying Bachelor of Science in Criminology at a known University in Bohol, and Justine Dwight Maglajos, a senior high school student.

I have a nuclear family but I love to get along with my extended family. I have plenty of cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts. My mother has ten siblings and all of them struggled to be able to succeed in the future. My father has six siblings, three of them were dead, they barely bond together because of distant residency. During weekends I always make sure to spend time with my grandparents, running some errands, cooking dishes, feeding pets such as cats and dogs, and doing physical activities. I also love to babysit my younger cousins whenever I have free time. Changing diapers, spoon feeding meals, taking a shower, combing hair and cutting nails, are the usual things I did when baby sitting.

My family is just any typical Filipino family-oriented people wherein respect and love for older sibling and parents are being practiced. Sundays are very precious to all of us because it is the only day of the week that we are usually complete to attend online Sunday mass and to order our favorite food for us to share at home. We do not go to church to hear mass physically and do not eat outside for dine in since the pandemic for our safety. Our dogs are one of the source of happiness in our home. We love to take care of them and play with them. They are a source of stress relief especially when my family cannot go out if our province/country is on enhanced community quarantine. My daughter and I love to try new dishes or bake simple cakes. I enjoy going to the grocery with her. For me, grocery shopping is relaxing.

After my elementary school and at the age of eleven I left my parent’s house and there I dwelt in my aunt's house to do household work. I woke up early to cooked, clean indoors and outside the house, washing their clothes and watered the plants. My experience in caring for kids and elderly is basically through my job as nurse though it is only in short term basis because of the clinical setting. But rest assured that they are well taken cared of since they are the most vulnerable patient in the population. Being attentive to their needs and comfort is one of the best ways to care for them. In addition, I experienced babysitting the kids of my cousin but that was when I’m around 15 and 16 years old when I’m still in high school. My mother has four sisters and five brothers, and my father has two brothers and four sisters, so I have many uncles, aunts and cousins.

My name is Folake, I am forty-two years old, I was born on December 29, 1977. I am from Nigeria and I studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University. I am from a family of seven children. My mother is a housewife and my father, now late, was an Electrical Engineering Contractor. I am the third child in the family. Bolaji (46) and Deji(44) are my two older siblings while Lola (41), Dapo 38, Taiwo and Kehinde 36year old twins are my younger ones. My family is quite close knit, due to the tradition of regular get-togethers my late grandfather handed down to my late father. We were always looking forward to seeing my nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and even my great aunts and great uncles. Unfortunately we are all in different parts of the world now trying to build a better standard of living.

I love spending time with children, their minds are quite interesting. As a former After-school Volunteer Caregiver for about two years, and having worked with a family of three children in the United States, I discovered a lot about children and did realise that adults can actually learn from their innocence. Children are open and trusting but they are also smart and sensitive so these traits should be used as an effective tool to positively impact them.

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science In Occupational Therapy and decided to pursue Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. I passed the Nursing Licensure Examinations in December of 2006. I have been working as a Registered Nurse since 2009.

I came from a conservative family, my father is a former government official but enjoys farming a lot, my mother on the other hand is an elected government official and is serving diligently until the end of her term in 2022, I have a younger brother who is now residing in Vancouver with his wife. Because my family was too conservative I got married at the age of 34 and was blessed to have a daughter after 9 months of being together. My husband is also a Nurse and both of us are working here in Saudi Arabia.

I am Nimfa Ayroso, a 31-year-old registered nurse from the Philippines. This letter is in support of my application to be a Home Support Worker/ Home Child Care Provider in Canada. I have worked locally and overseas for a certain period and it has been eye-opening, skill-enhancing and challenging. I have always considered myself as compassionate and empathetic thus, working with people and children gave me joy and a sense of accomplishment. I made a 2-year hiatus from work on 2012 as I need to take the lion’s share of caregiving duties for my nephew who was, then, an infant. I helped feed and bathe him-- played with him among others. These tasks never felt like a burden but instead felt rewarding, especially, seeing him grow.

I am from Pakistan and I am currently living and working in Malta along with my Husband as a live in care giver with a 61year old wheel chair bound patient since 2018, who has high medical needs, as he suffering from stroke and muscle dystrophy. We do not have any children yet but waiting upon the Lord, one day we will for sure, I simply adore children; I think they are the most beautiful beings in the world, they are able to encourage anyone with their innocence and energy, they always make me smile and give inner peace. I enjoy working with children, and old people and taking care of them; therefore you can trust that I can be someone you can count on to be there when your family needs me. I have gained my experience with children mainly through babysitting, as a part timer.

My name is Gloria from Africa ,Botswana. I was born on the 12th of February 1979 and a second born in a family of seven children. I am married with three adorable children; 17,8 and 5 years of ages. My husband works as a law enforcing officer(police officer) in a village near the capital city and that’s where we are both staying. All my children go to school. My family is looking forward to staying in Canada and are excited about my moving to Canada, that is, if I get a job offer.

Growing up in a family of 7 children, my parents and cousins has always been a beautiful thing for me since I was the eldest (in girls) and have to take care of my siblings and cousins during my parents’s abscens. This has really fuelled up that passion of taking care of other people not only my family. Caring for my siblings and cousins include bathing, cooking for them, changing nappies for small ones, helping them with school work and playing with them. The family that I am married into also respect the values of family coming together and during weekends and holidays we meet with our families, share ideas, cook and eat and enjoy together. We tell our children stories, cook for them and teach them some house chores, and play with them.
