Greetings!

My name is Ruby, 31 years old and currently residing in the Philippines. I graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the year 2011. I acquired my license a year after and begun to work as a Registered Nurse thereafter. I had almost two years of experience in the Philippines before I decided to work in Singapore as an Assistant Nurse for about 4 years.

I had so much to learn in Singapore being away from my family and on a new environment. I was an Assistant Nurse in a Dialysis Unit. Aside from assisting the doctors and staff nurses, I also had to attend to our patients daily needs. These mostly includes taking vital signs and blood sugar level, dressing and checking daily weight. A number of dialysis patients are amputated or has impaired sight due to diabetes thus full assistance is required. I also assist my patients in bath, meals and making sure that medications are taken on time. Total patient care was always what I deliver. I was able to establish good rapport despite a few language barriers. I really had a good time in Singapore until I had to go home to take care of my own family.

I had then a 2 years old son left in the Philippines who was speech delayed. I knew I had to go home to take care of him. I researched for creative treatments that I can do at home and focused on his needs and within a few months he was able to utter a word until phrases became sentences. Now he is already 5 years old, very talkative and he also knows how to read and write without any assistance. He’s very good in Math too. I develop my love for children even before my little boy came since I grew up in a big family and I am one of the eldest among my cousins. I enjoy babysitting during playdates and special occasions too.

Also, earlier last year my father was diagnosed with a heart disease. I had to personally take care of him. We decided to continue his treatment such as oxygen therapy and IV medications at home as local COVID cases in the hospital were at peak. I had to take care of him at home for weeks until it was safe for him to travel to another city to have his angioplasty and angiogram done. I was fortunate to take care of my father during those times.

I am currently working in a local private hospital in my hometown. I am assigned to a Dialysis Unit that caters both inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis treatments. Our to total patient care ratio can reach up to 4:1 nurse. In most times resourcefulness and critical thinking skills is always on practice.

My patients as well as my colleagues are fond of me. I always choose to work with integrity and compassion. I am organized and I take initiative to task. Over the years I have acquired my knowledge and skills not just in books but also in experience. Although I believe there is still so much to learn.

I want to work as a caregiver in your beautiful country Canada. I have seen many breathtaking sceneries on your side of the world. Also, Canadians are known to be one of the happiest and friendliest people in the world. It will be such joy to assist you in every way.

I’d be glad to sit in for an interview with you. Hope to hear from you soon.
